O2ptima Air Diluent

This is the entry level certification course for divers wishing to utilize a closed circuit rebreather (CCR) for air diving. The objective of the course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards and proper procedures for diving a CCR and to develop basic CCR diving skills to a maximum depth of 30 metres / 100 feet, using air as a diluent. No decompression diving is allowed on this course

Classroom

Students in this course will review the following topics:

  • History and Evolution of Rebreathers
  • Rebreather Practical Mechanics
  • Gas Physiology
  • Proper Scrubber Packing
  • Electronic or Manual Systems Design and Maintenance
  • Dive Tables
  • Dive Computers
  • Dive Planning
  • Emergency Procedures

Open Water Dives

Students will complete a inimum of 420 minutes open water training to be completed over a minimum of 7 dives with a gradual increase in depth each day to a maximum of 30 metres / 100 feet

Course Options

This course is offered on a regular basis and can be combined with the TDI Nitrox Diver course.

Prerequisites and Requirements

Students must have the following for class:


  • Student must be 18 years of age
  • Student must have 20 logged open water dives
  • Student must have TDI Nitrox Diver or equivalent rating
  • TDI student folder on file
  • Diversions' Student Agreement on file
  • All knowledge reviews completed
  • Student must have a copy of TDI's Diving Rebreathers manual
  • Please review the technical diving gear list for gear requirements for this course
